[[ A Jordanian man shot dead his daughter and her fiancé on rumors that the couple had engaged in premarital sex, the Jordan Times reported Monday, quoting police.

The suspect has confessed to the authorities "that he shot the couple after his wife informed him she had heard from neighbors that her daughter and her boyfriend had been having sexual relations," the police officer said.

The father said that he was "infuriated" by the rumors and apparently decided to kill the couple to cleanse his family's honor, the official said.

The suspect was arrested and charged with murder Saturday, two days after the killing of his 21-year-old daughter and her 23-year-old fiancé.

An autopsy revealed that the young woman was a virgin, the report added.

Since January, more than 12 women have been killed in similar "honor crimes" in the conservative Muslim kingdom. ]]

Hmmm... guess he was wrong about that pre-marital sex thing... oops. Oh, well... she probably had it coming just for attitude reasons.
