Truth Flexes Its Muscles

-
The attack that the left has waged against the President in the wake of the hurricane is almost unprecedented. It has been very well organized and has come from all sides- hollywood, Congress, local and state government. The problem with it, though, is that it has all been based on lies and deceptions. That stuff only holds on for so long before reason and truth make their way back into the room.

Jack Kelly at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette brings us some of that reason from a subject matter expert:

[[ Jason van Steenwyk is a Florida Army National Guardsman who has been mobilized six times for hurricane relief. He notes that:

"The federal government pretty much met its standard time lines, but the volume of support provided during the 72-96 hour was unprecedented. The federal response here was faster than Hugo, faster than Andrew, faster than Iniki, faster than Francine and Jeanne."

For instance, it took five days for National Guard troops to arrive in strength on the scene in Homestead, Fla. after Hurricane Andrew hit in 2002. But after Katrina, there was a significant National Guard presence in the afflicted region in three.

Journalists who are long on opinions and short on knowledge have no idea what is involved in moving hundreds of tons of relief supplies into an area the size of England in which power lines are down, telecommunications are out, no gasoline is available, bridges are damaged, roads and airports are covered with debris, and apparently have little interest in finding out.
]]

Then, we have the great Ben Stein with his flawless logic and flowing eloquence:

[[ Fact: Katrina was a devastating storm. It left terrible damage to innocent people's lives and to property throughout the Gulf South.

Fact: There have been other storms as damaging and some far more damaging. What, then, is different about this storm? Here are a few tentative thoughts.

First, the incompetence of the local and state authorities in Louisiana and especially New Orleans was breathtaking. To issue a mandatory evacuation order without providing means of transport is almost criminally irresponsible. To take citizens to shelters where they would be beaten, robbed and raped and to provide no police protection for them was astoundingly incompetent. To allow armed gangs to shoot at rescuers was almost beyond belief.
]]

Damn, he is a straight shooter!

I firmly believe that this is another case of the truth setting us free. In spite of the herculean efforts of the enemies of America, the good people who have done what they should- and much more- will be vindicated by history.

Great post, and I have to jump over to Stein's blog and read his eloquent post!

Also, I have to say to tsar lazar - RIGHT ON! Penn took a walk through the water, pulling his boat - made him an authority on what was going on - NOT!

I'm guessing that the reason Mayor Nagin didn't deploy the buses is that he knew that President Bush's jack-booted thugs would just come along and make sure that black people had to ride in the back of them.
