R.I.P. Sergeant Randall

-
You just cannot beat the British when it comes to obituaries. They still honor their old warriors (and others) with great style and flair. I just love the way they write these things.

Take, for example, the case of Sergeant Peter Randall:

[[ Peter John Randall was born on August 20 1930, the son of a sailor who served in the Royal Navy in both world wars and was awarded the US President's medal for rescuing American seaman ar sea. After school at Fareham, Hampshire, at 14 Peter embarked on a series of jobs; one, in a bakery, ended when he threw a handful of dough at the baker. At 16 he joined the Royal Sussex regiment as a clarinet-playing bandsman, then was switched to 4th Queen's Own Hussars. ]]

You absolutely have to read the rest of this extraordinary man's story. It's not very long, but it will be with you for a long time.

Another British Hero Dies And Is Remembered

Remarkable just doesn't begin to cover it. Thank God the Brits still do this. I hope Americans spend some time remembering our own fallen on this coming Memorial Day.
