The Gov-i-nator Speaks

-
An honest reaction, I'm sure.

Arnold: I'd 'Kill' Anyone Who Took My Daughter For Abortion

He is, of course, referring to California's Proposition 73, an initiative that would make most abortions for minors illegal without prior notification of the girls' parents or guardians.

[[ "They call me when my daughter falls off the jungle gym in the school and they say, 'What do you want us to use? Can we put a Band-Aid on it? Do you want to come in? She's crying a little bit.'

"They call us about everything. I don't want them in that particular incident not to call us."
]]

Some additional perspective from a health care professional:

[[ "In California, a young girl under the age of 18 can't get a flu shot or an aspirin from the school nurse without a parent being notified," Paul Laubacher, a Sacramento nurse and the official ballot proponent of the Proposition 73 initiative, told the Bee. "But a doctor can perform an abortion without notifying a parent or guardian." ]]

Before we get too excited about Ahnold's statement... keep in mind that he is "not sure" if he will support the proposition... because he is already supporting four other ones- and this might "divert attention" from those. Talk is cheap, big guy. I guess we know where you stand and what your lack of full support for this means... it is the cowardly "moderate" argument: "I'm a social liberal and will not take a public stand against the horror of abortion- even though I personally am against it."

Fortunately, there is a strong pro-life movement in CA, even though we are outnumbered by the Sodom & Gomorrah crowd.

The Governator may come through on this one. His support among conservative Democrats (a contradiction?) and Independents has been slipping, and he will need the Conservative wing of the Republican Party (including yours truly) to get re-elected. I think what keeps him from supporting it wholeheartedly is 1) His liberal Democrat wife; and 2) His desire to garner at least some of the Hollywood votes.

Anrold's had a tough time, and at least part of it has been his own fault for not being more clear-cut on important issues. Much of his problem has been the overwhelmingly liberal Demo state Legislature, however; he has really had to do some fancy end-runs around them, which is what these ballot propositions are all about.

So, give him a chance; let's see if The Commando can kick as much butt in CA as he has in films.

The problem with riding the fence is that you get lots of splinters in your butt...

Morality is black and white. If you feel strongly about something- like parental notification- as Ahnold says he does... then you have to stand up for it. Period.

I will give him a chance. I will not vote for him, though, if he rolls over on something as crucial as this.

Believe it or not, I had a dream the other night that I went after a fem nazi for taking my daughter to an abortion clinic to kill her baby. I haven't felt rage like that in a long time.

Arnold is so right about the school nurse thing. When I took my daughter to get her ears pierced at the mall, I had to sign all this paperwork. It just doesn't make any sense.

Maybe we should just hand our babies over to the judiciary to be raised since they think they can do a better job than we can.

I agree with you. If he caves, I'll vote either for another Repub who challenges him or an Independent, if need be.

Remember... it takes a village. That's not just a saying- they really believe that crap!
