Our Great Society

Here's an article that leaves more questions than it answers. What can we say about this...? What can one infer from such behavior...?

[[ While many neighborhoods greet power restoration workers with drinks and snacks, a crowd in Dania Beach responded by tossing rocks at utility trucks.

The repair crews withdrew.

It is unclear why the workers got such a rude reception.

''It doesn't really make any sense if you want to get your power restored,'' said Veda Coleman-Wright, spokeswoman for the Broward Sheriff's Office, which handles police services in the city.

Angry Crowd Pelts Repair Crews

Beyond the sloppy and irresponsible journalism that would leave a story with such gaping holes and burning questions... what the hell is happening to our country? This is hardly an isolated incident... we have seen all too much of this lately. Are things that bad? Have we really come to the point where civilization is hanging on by a mere thread in some places in America? Is the end nigh?

My natural reply would be no... that this is just more aberrant behavior by some groups who have been betrayed by liberal broken promises and welfare-state lifestyles... and maybe that is the real truth here.

Maybe ward churchill is right... maybe the chickens really are coming home to roost.
