Marine Parents: Sheehan Protest Is Wrong

-
Here is some perspective from another point of view… you know, the point of view of the overwhelming majority of family’s of fallen warriors. Why is no one in the media on their side? Does their opinion matter so much less than Cindy Sheehan's? Seriously... does it?

[[ The mother of a young soldier killed in Iraq is camping out near the Crawford, Texas ranch owned by George W. Bush, hoping to express her anti-war sentiments to the president.

The mothers of two local Marines killed in Iraq don't agree with Cindy Sheehan's views at all.

"I don't agree" with Sheehan's views, said Lynn Kelly of Pitman, whose son, Marine Cpl. Sean P. Kelly, was killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq in January.

"I wouldn't say, 'Bush, you killed my son.' I don't agree with that," said Kelly.

"I think we had to do something and I believe that ultimately, I was one of the few that had to make the ultimate sacrifice, which isn't fair, in my eyes," she said.

"But I don't believe that Mr. Bush was the one that pulled the trigger," said Kelly.

She said she believes there are other issues she could address with the president, but not the issue of the war.
"I think we needed to be there, something needed to be done," said Kelly.

"As far as what is happening now, our country wasn't built in 17 or 18 months, either. It's going to take time. Unfortunately, we got stuck in the middle of all this," she said.

Marine Cpl. Marc T. Ryan, of Gloucester City, was killed in an explosion in Ramadi, Iraq in November.
"I would tell Cindy Sheehan that, as one mother to another, I do realize your loss is your loss and there's nothing you can do to heal from it," said the corporal's mother, Linda Ryan.

"George Bush didn't kill her son, it's the evildoers who have no value of life who killed her son. Her son made a decision to join the Armed Forces and defend our country, knowing that, at any time, war could come about," Ryan said.

She said she's been on the end of those kinds of conversations several times. Recently, when she took her dog in for medical treatment, the veterinarian, despite seeing Ryan's memory bracelet and the necklace bearing a portrait of her son, started telling her how much she hates George Bush.

"I've decided I'm just going to say, 'I realize you have your opinions, but it aches me, it's heart-wrenching for me'," said Ryan.

"George Bush was my son's commander-in-chief. My son, Marc, totally believed in what he was doing," she said.
Sheehan, she believes, is doing what she's doing because of the agony over losing her son.

"She's going about this not realizing how many people she's hurting. When she refers to anyone killed in Iraq, she's referring to my son. She doesn't have anything to say about what happened to my son," said Ryan.

"There is nothing in this world that can describe the agony of worry, the lack of sleep that comes from a child being in harm's way. I kept saying his training would get him through, and it did get him through more events than I can count," she said.

"I'm a proud Marine mom. I've earned the right to say, 'Semper Fi.' I'm a Marine's daughter, a Marine's wife and a Marine's mom," Ryan said.

"Marc believed in what he was doing and he couldn't leave his brother (Marines). He would say, 'If just one child lives to love America, I've done my job,'" she said.

"I don't agree (with Sheehan). I have a right to say that. My son fought for my right to say that," Ryan said.

Yeah... okay.

Funny how your side LOVES the VERY FEW veterans who support your leftist causes... and hate and vilify the overwhelmingly vast majority of those who do not.

For every "disgruntled" veteran you could hightlight, there are thousands and thousands on the other side... but your few are supposed to carry more weight because you believe in your cause more than we do...?

If you want to use "veterans" and "military personnel" as the scale to weigh the worth of this war on... then you will lose every time.

Learn math first, then we can have an intelligent discussion. Several million will always outnumber a few dozen or even a few hundred.

Your emphasis is always, regardless of what you say when you've been caught in misleading, on how these "veterans" hate this war and this President. Much fanfare is given to a minute segment of the concerned population.

Just as Cindy Sheehan is being given unprecedented media coverage... while the overwhelming majority of America supporting families of fallen warriors are ignored.

Her side... YOUR side... is trumpeted as the only side... as THE truth.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I am surprised... it happens all the time. I just like to point it out when I can.

I also understand your wanting to take "a pass" on an intelligent conversation. That would require you to check your seething Bush hatred at the door... and to THINK instead of just FEELING your way through this issue.

I think you are correct, morningstar... I have noticed that a lot of my ire in this issue is being directed at Ms. Sheehan... and, in truth, some of it should be directed at her... but the bulk of my- and all other right-minded people's- anger should be directed at the marxists, socialists, and just-plain anti American forces that are "handling" her right now.

She has clearly lost the capacity for rational thought... and now she is being used and abused by some very dark and sinister forces.

THAT is where the main focus of our animosity should be directed.
