As ridiculous as this is, the truly ridiculous thing is that many American liberals will agree with the dictator on this insanity. Still, it is nice to have him once again show us his true colors.
[[ Cuban leader Fidel Castro claimed Friday that U.S. policies were responsible for the latest tragedy to befall Cubans trying to reach American shores -- 31 people believed killed in the Florida Straits.
President Fidel Castro appeared on state-run television to point the finger at an American law that allows Cubans to apply for permanent residency if they reach the U.S., saying it encourages dangerous, illegal migration. ]]
Hmmm... maybe YOU should stop making it dangerous and illegal, Fidel... whaddaya think??

I've have always though Carter should have ordered the Navy and the Coasties to intercept and, if necessary, destroy all of those "refugee" craft during the infamous Mariel Boat Lift. He didn't have the cojones, though.
And who knows? This was during the time of the ill-named Zumwalt Sea Control Strategy, so maybe the Navy didn't have enough gear to do the job in any case...

Carter was not capable of ordering anything of the sort. He was and is a big part of the problem.
Seriously, we could probably have an all day discussion of all the things Carter "should have" done... the ineptitude of those four years absolutely boggles the mind!
