Real Combat

-
I read Michael Yon's posting "Gates of Fire" last night... and it was amazing. I was telling my family about it and planned to post on it today. Then, Tsar sent me a link to it, so here it is- absolutely gripping account of some of our guys on the ground in Iraq.

"In the Yarmuk neighborhood, only terrorists openly carry AK-47s. The lawyers call this Hostile Intent. The soldiers call this Dead Man Walking.

Deuce Four is an overwhelmingly aggressive and effective unit, and they believe the best defense is a dead enemy."

"They use human bomb delivery devices—the miss-labeled "suicide bombers"—who become organic elements of primitive weapon systems. "

These are but a few of my favorite lines. That was definitely a good read.

I loved "the best defense is a dead enemy"! I've heard that one before somewhere.

The whole time I was reading this I was remembering the opening theme song from "Cops."

I think Sheehan & Co. should be forced to watch this strapped in a chair with lidlocks on their eyes---like Alex in "A Clockwork Orange." Maybe we can condition them to be intelligent and loyal to the US...
