Unspeakable Horror Made Worse With Media Bias

Here's an AP story that seems to want to expose the absolute abomination of muslim "honor" killings...

[[ TAIBEH, West Bank - It began as yet another "honor killing," still relatively common in the Arab world: a young Muslim woman was poisoned, allegedly by her family, over an extramarital affair. But in a twist, her lover was a Christian - and 13 of his relatives' homes were burned by an angry mob, all Muslims from the dead woman's clan.

The woman's family insist they were simply dispensing tribal justice. But some Christians say they were targeted because of their religion, reflecting growing worries about a rise in sectarianism after decades of tolerance between Palestinians' Muslim majority and a dwindling Christian minority.

Her family said she became pregnant from being raped but nonetheless welcomed her death - which they claimed was suicide - as a just punishment. They defended the raid on Taibeh, aimed at houses of her lover's relatives.

Last year, more than 30 women are known to have been killed in the name of family honor in the West Bank and Gaza.

However, women's rights groups say it is hard to count the actual number of "honor killings" in the Palestinian territories or in other male-dominated Arab societies where women are still slain for having sex outside marriage, dating, simply talking to men or even for being raped. ]]

It's almost as if this AP writer suddenly realized that the story was looking very bad for muslims... and so had to insert a moral equivalence point.

[[ Such violence isn't limited to Arab Muslims.

In May, Faten Habash, a 23-year-old Christian from the West Bank city of Ramallah, fell in love with a Muslim man. Eventually, her father killed her, splitting her head open with a metal pipe. ]] (LINK to story)

Yep... they brought up the ONE story of a "Christian" man killing his daughter for "honor." Responding to this murder, the family priest said:

[[ “There is no interfaith marriage among Arabs. Catholics here are Christian by faith and Muslim by culture, and in this community it is forbidden for Christians to marry Muslims. It’s not good. It’s a tribal mentality..." ]]

Okay, there's that one... now, go ahead and find another one. While you search, we can amuse ourselves by counting the hundreds of cases of muslim "honor" killings. Here's a particularly obscene one that is a very good example of all of them:

[[ “Men feel they have lost their dignity and that they can somehow restore it by upholding the family’s honour. We’ve noticed recent cases are much more violent in nature; attempts to kill, rape, incest. There is an incredible amount of incest.” Amira Abu Hanhan Qaoud murdered her daughter, Rafayda, because she became pregnant after being raped by two of her brothers. “My daughter fell over and broke her knee. I took her to hospital and there the doctor told me she was pregnant. So I killed her. It’s as simple as that,” said Mrs Qaoud on her doorstep in Ramallah. Mrs Qaoud waited until the baby was born and given up for adoption. Then she presented her 22 year-old daughter with a razor blade and told her to slash her wrists.

She refused so her mother pulled a plastic bag over her head, sliced her wrists and beat her head with a stick (thereby killing her). ]] (LINK)

Looks like men AND women feel that they have "lost their dignity"...
