How Do You Rescue People...

-
...who refuse to be rescued? This is a huge part of why so many died and were "stranded"...

[[ As rescue operations went on, the frustrations of the police and volunteers continued to mount Sunday, as a growing number of those who had stayed in their homes seemed to be dead, and many of those who remained alive refused to leave. ]]

As if that weren't bad enough, then we hear another reason for delayed responses...

[[ Police have said that early rescue efforts were hampered when they encountered gunfire. It was also difficult to get enough of boats in the water because of bureaucratic foul-ups, Captain Bayard said. One day, as many as 300 boats were in the water, he said, but he could have used 1,000. ]] (LINK to story)

How sad is it that we're spending so much time blaming all the beaurocrats and politicians... and NOT blaming the people who were SHOOTING AT THE POLICE when they were trying to rescue people??

Lord deliver us...

People cannot be saved from themselves... that is the fundamental problem with our welfare state... and our "big brother" tendencies.
