Hamas Victory Good News???

-
Jeff Jacoby thinks so... and I'm inclined to agree with him.

Hamas Victory Is A Good Thing

...

Meanwhile, the new Palestinian "leadership" wants the dollars to keep on a'flowin'... and their statement included this very amusing tidbit.

[[ "We call on you to transfer all aid to the Palestinian treasury," Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh told a news conference in Gaza.

He spoke just hours before the Quartet were to meet.

Addressing international concerns that aid would be used to fund violence, Haniyeh said: "We assure you that all the revenues will be spent on salaries, daily life and infrastructure."
]]

"Infrastructure" is, of course, code for "bomb making and Jew killing," which is the mainstay of their economy.

Geez...

"an unambiguous reality check into the nature of Palestinian society. And if there is one thing that the West badly needs, it is more realism and less delusion about the Palestinians."

To which I add....Amen.

In defense of Bush against Jacoby's criticism, however, I think Bush was somewhat misunderstood. Dubyah is right---whether or not we agree with the result, the election of Hamas to the majority in the Paleosimian Parliament (alleged) WAS an exercise in democratic process. That the Paleosimians were stupid enough to vote in a parliament of suicides is "singularly unfortunate," but it was their choice.

As to the money flowing from Uncle Sugar, I really don't know why we've been subsidizing Paleswine to begin with. Are we allies with the Israelis or not???? Sometimes I fail to understand the workings of the "faggots in pin-stripes at Foggy Bottom" (Nixon's words).

So I agree with the Gunny on this one. I fact, I am in high hopes that having Hamas in charge will lead to war---it's time Israel had the chance to wipe the Paleosimians off the Middle East map once and for all. 'Hooray for peace, hurrah for war.'

BTW, this is OT but is there anyone else out there who suspects that all is not as it seems with the Jill Carroll kidnapping? She has been very chummy with the Iraqis for some time. To paraphrase one of my favorite films, "I smell a big, fat Sunni rat."

Oh, and one last bit. Here's a report from Hugh Hewitt's blog:

Steeler, Pa.
by Mary Katharine Ham
January 30, 2006 01:08 PM PST
The mayor and city council of the town of Washington, Pa. voted unanimously this weekend to change the town's name for the week of the Super Bowl to avoid any confusion about which team its 15,000 residents were supporting.

Washington, Pa. is now Steeler, Pa.

Sounds like my kinda town. :)

Here's amusing news from MSN.com:

Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a fallen soldier in Iraq who reinvigorated the antiwar movement, was arrested and removed from the House gallery Tuesday night just before President Bush’s State of the Union address, a police spokeswoman said.

Sheehan, who was invited to attend the speech by Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D-Calif., was charged with demonstrating in the Capitol building, said Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider. The charge was later changed to unlawful conduct, Schneider said. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Sheehan was taken in handcuffs from the Capitol to police headquarters a few blocks away. Her case was processed as Bush spoke.

“I’m proud that Cindy’s my guest tonight,” Woolsey said in an interview before the speech. “She has made a difference in the debate to bring our troops home from Iraq.”

Only a CA Rep. could be so stupid as to invite Screamin' Sheehan to the SOTU speech. Sheesh. :(
