Die Hard Still!

-
The old phrase "put your money where your mouth is" definitely applies here.

[[ ANGERED by negative portrayals of the conflict in Iraq, Bruce Willis, the Hollywood star, is to make a pro-war film in which American soldiers will be depicted as brave fighters for freedom and democracy.

The 50-year-old actor said that he was in talks about a film of “these guys who do what they are asked to for very little money to defend and fight for what they consider to be freedom”.

Unlike many Hollywood stars Willis supports the war and recently offered a $1m (about £583,000) bounty for the capture of any of Al-Qaeda’s most wanted leaders such as Osama Bin Laden, Ayman Al-Zawahiri or Abu Musab al- Zarqawi, its commander in Iraq. Willis visited the war zone with his rock and blues band, the Accelerators, in 2003.

“I am baffled to understand why the things I saw happening in Iraq are not being reported,” he told MSNBC, the American news channel.

You just have to love the moonbat teachers. There is no doubt that they take it as a solemn duty to show the children the correct path.

It's funny when they get caught in their brainwashing... and then act as if it's no big deal. The media, of course, usually agrees with them.

Here's a good one.

[[ A high school teacher is facing questions from administrators after giving a vocabulary quiz that included digs at President Bush and the extreme right.

Bret Chenkin, a social studies and English teacher at Mount Anthony Union High School, said he gave the quiz to his students several months ago. The quiz asked students to pick the proper words to complete sentences.

One example: "I wish Bush would be (coherent, eschewed) for once during a speech, but there are theories that his everyday diction charms the below-average mind, hence insuring him Republican votes." "Coherent" is the right answer.

500?

-
Wow... has it really been that many? Five hundred postings here... go figure.

Four months- almost exactly to the day. Countless words... countless thoughts.

What does it all mean? Well, I guess to me it means that I have reached out and given my voice to the Maelstrom that is the blogosphere. It also means that I have found others who think as I do on many topics of great importance... and maybe that was the whole point in the first place. Maybe things had become so crazy in this world that I needed to solidly touch other minds... to make sure I was not alone.

To those of you who are reading this, I say thanks. Thanks for validating my small efforts. Thanks for showing me that there are still many, many sane people left. Thanks for all the great comments and emails. The small stable of "regulars" that we have here has become a part of my daily thought process. I regularly wish you all well and remember you in my prayers. I feel as if I know you... as strange as that may sound.

Anyway... happy 500th post to me... to all of us. Let us use the awesome momentum of this most auspicious occasion to springboard us to new and greater heights... oh, wait... that was a bit over the top, wasn't it? Damn... I promised myself that I wasn't going to get all melodramatic...!

Okay, then. Onward.

Lies, Lies, And More Lies

-
Here's J.C. Watts with a nice reminder of how this presidential "slump" in the polls actually happened.

[[ Just as the big media has had a field day with global warming, they have really teed it up on the war in Iraq. They have repeated the revisionist history offered up by Democratic leaders nationwide as if it were fact.

And it's working.

Eight months ago, 53 percent of our fellow Americans believed President Bush to be accurate and honest in making his case to the country before we went to war. Forty-one percent believed he had "misled us."

Today, the Wall Street Journal and NBC tell us that only 35 percent believe Bush was truthful while 57 percent believe he deliberately misled us into war.

I'm aghast at the absurdity of it all. No matter how vehemently I may disagree with a political opponent, I would never presume to believe that a man or woman who was elected by a majority of Americans in a particular district or state would deliberately choose to send our sons and daughters to war and send them to their untimely graves.

But I guess I don't play the game the way they do.

Letter To Congressional Surrender Monkeys

-
Wow... this is a good one.

[[ Before I say anything else, Congressman Murtha, let me thank you -- for your long public service in Washington and, before that, in Vietnam.

And let me commend you, too, for sparking an honest debate. Until now, what has passed for debate on Iraq has been mostly slander – for example, calling President Bush a liar and questioning his patriotism. Yes, questioning his patriotism: because anyone who would lie to get America into a war for reasons unrelated to national security would not be a patriot. He'd be a traitor.

I ask you, sir: Has such a vicious charge ever before been leveled at an American president in a time of war – or even a time of peace?

But you have not taken this low road. Instead, you have said you believe the war in Iraq “cannot be won” and that “it's time to bring the troops home.” This is a discussion worth having.

You also say that “80 per cent of Iraqis want us out.” I'm not sure where you got that figure but it's probably low. I'd guess that close to 100 percent of Iraqis – as well as 100% of Americans – would love to see U.S. troops heading home for the holidays. But some of us think it matters whether we leave Iraq after we've defeated our enemies – or whether we leave Iraq after having surrendered to our enemies.

Here's A Shocker...

-
...it turns out that the death pill kills.

[[ Federal drug regulators have discovered that all four women in this country who died after taking an abortion pill suffered from a rare and highly lethal bacterial infection, a finding that is leading to new scrutiny of the drug's safety.

Cry, Cry, Cry

The brilliant Victor Davis Hanson opines on the "new" strategy of the democrats.

[[ For now Democrats stammer, sputter, and go the Bush shoulda / coulda route — not quite ready to take the McGovern sharp turn, forever waiting on polls and events on the ground in Iraq, always unsure whether peace and democracy will come before the 2,500th American fatality.

Yet as they hedge — on television praising Congressmen Murtha who advocates withdrawal, but making sure they vote overwhelmingly on the record to reject his advice — they should consider some critical questions.

First, are the metrics of this war in the terrorists’ or our favor? Are the Iraqi security forces growing or shrinking? Are elections postponed or on schedule? Are Europe, Jordan, Lebanon, and others more or less sympathetic to a war against Islamic terrorism in Iraq? Are bin Laden, Zawahiri, and Zarqawi more or less popular or secure after we removed Saddam? Is al Qaeda in a strengthened or weakened position? Is the Arab world more or less receptive to democracy in the Gulf, Egypt, Lebanon, and the West Bank? And is the United States more or less vulnerable to a terrorist attack as we go into our fifth year since September 11?

I ask those questions in all sincerity since the conventional wisdom — compared to the true wisdom and compassion of those valiantly fighting the terrorists under the most impossible of conditions — is that we are losing in Iraq, our enemies are emboldened, and the Arab world has turned against us. But if we forget the banality of New York Times columnists, the admonitions of NPR experts, and the daily rants of a Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, or Al Gore, more sober and street-smart Democrats are in fact not so sure of these answers.

Media Spin? No Way!

-
Here's a very good rant that shows just how despicable our media and the liberals can be.

[[ Democrats screamed foul as they were dragged kicking and screaming to their moment of truth. When Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio), recounted a conversation with a Marine colonel on the House floor telling her colleagues, "He asked me to send Congress a message--stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message--that cowards cut and run, Marines never do," the House erupted into a shouting match with Democrats taking obvious offense to the message.

But Democrats had been reading anti-war messages from home on the floor of congress, parading anti-war poster-mom Cindy Sheehan from sea to shining sea for months and not a single Republican squealed foul. The hypocrisy of today’s Democrats is unbelievable. They make the psychedelic Democrats of the 60’s look sane…

For months — years, they had been accusing Republicans of not listening to their voice of dissent. Yet the minute Republicans give the voice of dissent real power by offering a vote on the matter, they cry foul and run from all of their Meet the Press talking points, voting 403 — 3 against their own demands to pull out of Iraq. They really got the Republicans on the run here…

Troop Morale Harmed By Anti-War Crowd?

-
Why, that is as shocking as realizing that two plus two equals four. Who could not predict that this irresponsible political behavior by the liberals would be detrimental to our troops?

I don't blame the average American for this.

[[ "They say morale is very high," said a senior Pentagon official of reports filed by commanders with Washington. "But they relate comments from troops asking, 'What the heck is going on back here' and why America isn't seeing the progress they are making or appreciating the mission the way those on the ground there do. My take is that they are wondering if America is still behind them."

Mr. Rumsfeld appeared on several Sunday talk shows yesterday to express concern about the effects of the political discussion on U.S. forces.

"We also have to understand that our words have effects," he said on "Fox News Sunday." "Put yourself in the shoes of a soldier who thinks that we're going to pull out precipitously or immediately, as some people have proposed. Obviously, they have to wonder whether what they're doing makes sense if that's the idea, if that's the debate."

He repeated similar words on other shows, saying on CBS' "Face the Nation" that war critics should "think about the troops that are there and how it sounds to them." He also exhorted the audience on ABC's "This Week" to "put yourself in the shoes of the American soldiers."
]]

Therein lies the problem. Most Americans are not capable of "putting themselves in the shoes of the soldiers" because no one is telling them what that is like. The only thing people are getting a steady dose of is anti-war hysteria coming from the far left media.

Their sedition is starting to pay off... michael moore must be hoisting his chocolate shake up high at this news.

Calling Them What They Are

-
This column at Townhall by Mark M. Alexander is, effectively, the very last word on this pre-war intelligence "debate." As courageous as it is factual, the column hits a grand slam right in the face of the liberal hypocrites.

[[ Senators Harry Reid, Dick Durbin and Ted Kennedy have accused President George W. Bush of lying about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, insisting that he "lied us into war." Some Demo wing nuts are even floating the idea of impeachment. Their charges have no substance, of course; they're merely contrived to keep Republicans off balance through next year's midterm elections. In other words, Democrat Party leaders are using the gravely serious matter of the Iraq War for trivial political fodder -- and their politicization of our mission there has put our Armed Forces in the region in greater peril.

Let's be clear: There is nothing wrong with honest criticism of an American president; to the contrary, we have written extensively about President Bush's policy failures. The dishonest and politically motivated accusations of Kennedy, Reid, Durbin and their ilk, however, are nothing short of -- and we don't use this term lightly -- treasonous.

Here are their accusations:
]]

Mr. Alexander then goes on to list the liberals' current political games AND their pre-war positions. The dressing-down he gives them is entirely of their own making... and that is the beauty of it.

There is simply no arguing the truths contained in this column... and the closing quote by Joseph Lieberman shows clearly how an old school- NON America hating- Democrat should behave.

If anyone cares... I'll be out of town for a day or two... then I'll be back to insert more stuff into your collective brain housing group.

By the way, I haven't missed a day of posting since I started this thingy almost four months ago...

Go figure.

C-ya soon!

-

I Wonder...

-
...if the liberals ever get tired of choking on their own words?

Here's Joel Engel in the Weekly Standard explaining- again- how heinous are the charges against the President on pre-war intelligence. What happens if the President had not acted to go to war? It is easy to see...

[[ Well, even if you buy the Democrats' new claim that, as Senator John Kerry said, "This administration misled a nation into war by cherry-picking intelligence," you're inconveniently stuck with the fact that a vast preponderance of that intelligence, rightly or wrongly, pointed unambiguously toward Iraq's status as a rogue state.

Think about this from the president's point of view: Much of the country is calling for your head regarding your alleged failure to prevent 9/11 when no firm intelligence predicted such a thing. Do you really have any choice but to act on the overwhelming amount of clear evidence that says bad things are happening beneath hidden bunkers in Iraq? No. You have no other way out than to fight preemptively. If you don't, well, heaven forbid another attack is made on American soil--with grotesque weapons that came out of Iraq after sanctions were lifted and Saddam's WMD program was reconstituted (as the Duelfur Report later extrapolated).

At his impeachment trial, shortly before conviction, the president would have been made to endure a verbatim recitation of the many dire warnings about Iraq and Saddam Hussein uttered by Democrats Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Sandy Berger, and Madeline Albright. "Iraq is a long way from [here]," Secretary of State Albright said on February 18, 1998, "but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
]]

They Left Him No Choice

Next, Jonah Goldberg takes it home with a question: What if Bush did lie?

In it, he also gives a reminder that a certain famous four-term President was much more guilty of duplicity than is George W. Bush.

[[ Indeed, the evidence that FDR lied is far greater than the evidence that Bush did. Charles Beard, arguably the most influential historian of the 20th century — and a very liberal progressive — dedicated the last years of his life to writing about FDR's lies and "Caesarism." Richard Hofstadter, another of the great liberal historians (and a sharp critic of Beard's), also conceded FDR's "undeniably devious leadership" in the months and years before the war. Hofstadter, like countless other historians, had to agree that FDR's diplomacy and politics were designed to push the United States through a "back door into war."

Roosevelt won his unprecedented third election on the vow that he wouldn't send American boys to war: "While I am talking to you mothers and fathers, I give you one more assurance. I have said this before, but I shall say it again and again and again: Your boys are not going to be sent into any foreign wars." This was almost surely a lie.

Now, you might say that Iraq was no WWII, Saddam was no Hitler, and 9/11 was no Pearl Harbor. Those are all fair arguments with varying degrees of merit. But WWII wasn't "the good war" in our hearts until after Pearl Harbor and even until after the Holocaust, and a lot of Hollywood burnishing.

The Bush Doctrine is not chiefly about WMD and never was. Like FDR's vision, it balances democracy, security and morality. Still, the media and anti-Bush partisans have been bizarrely unmoved by the revelations of Hussein's killing fields, his torture chambers for tots and democracy's tangible progress in the Middle East.
]]

The bottom line- and the one fact that is almost always lost- is that we are at war now. Period. We are doing our military absolutely no favors by behaving in this childish and partisan way.

Shame on all of the politicians who are using the war for their own ends.

-

Mr. Cheney, Don't Forget...

-
..."power mad, traiterous liars."

[[ Vice President Dick Cheney joined the White House attack on critics of the Iraq war Wednesday night when he told a conservative group that senators who had suggested that the Bush administration manipulated prewar intelligence were making "one of the most dishonest and reprehensible charges ever aired in this city."

Mr. Cheney, who was the administration's toughest, most persistent advocate for the war in Iraq, depicted the senators as hypocrites swayed by antiwar sentiment and their own political ambitions.

History 101

-
Wow... when you see it like this, it is truly amazing. Some people never, ever learn. Anyone with a clear head can see how the liberals are aiding our enemy... and how generally bad for our country their behavior is.

[[ After World War II, Republicans seeking to end long years of political frustration accused Franklin Roosevelt of deliberately and maliciously ignoring intelligence that clearly revealed Japan's plans to attack the U.S. Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor. It was, the critics alleged, the president's way of dragging a reluctant nation into the war after winning a third term in the White House on the promise he would never do so.

Similar allegations were made following the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution that brought the nation full force into the Vietnamese civil war. Lyndon Johnson, critics charged, had deliberately magnified a minor incident, if it occurred at all, to carry out policies based on a specious domino theory for Southeast Asia propounded by experts in both political parties. The charges helped fuel a growing and sometimes violent antiwar movement that not only dislodged the president and ultimately helped tarnish his successor but also gave sustenance to the North Vietnamese and cost more lives by prolonging their stubborn refusal to negotiate an end.

One can even go back to World War I, when Woodrow Wilson won a second term in 1916 by promising never to get involved in the war then raging in Europe. But he reneged on the pledge, using what critics called a spurious reason, the sinking by a German U-boast of the passenger ship Lusitania with a large number of Americans aboard. There was even some evidence that the ship also was carrying munitions and, therefore, was a legitimate target. The allegations worked and Americans began a long period of voting for Republicans.

The one immutable fact is that history always repeats itself, and that is exactly what is happening as the debate grows over reasons used to justify the invasion of Iraq.

About Time

-
William Kristol has a great piece in the Weekley Standard on the President's Veteran's Day speech. Mr. Bush finally starts addressing the idiocy of the left and their attacks on the troops and the war.

[[ And then the president went on offense:

---"These baseless attacks send the wrong signal to our troops and to an enemy that is questioning America's will. As our troops fight a ruthless enemy determined to destroy our way of life, they deserve to know that their elected leaders who voted to send them to war continue to stand behind them. Our troops deserve to know that this support will remain firm when the going gets tough. And our troops deserve to know that, whatever our differences in Washington, our will is strong, our nation is united and we will settle for nothing less than victory."---

Bush's counterpunch hit home. Ted Kennedy was upset. He found the speech "deeply regrettable." How dare the president try "to rebuild his own credibility?" How dare the president defend his honor--and the country's? For the nation's honor is at stake, too. If we went to war based on lies told by our president, then it is a disgrace to us all. It is a further disgrace that we reelected him. It is yet a further disgrace that Congress continues to support this war, by appropriating funds for it. It is a disgrace that Senator Kennedy has not moved to have the president impeached.

At least the anti-American left, which wants to get out of Iraq immediately and to impeach the president, is consistent. But Kennedy--and his colleagues like Sen. Harry Reid--do not really want to follow the logic of their accusations. They would rather just damage the president--and the country's foreign policy--and enjoy the political effect.
]]

If the President stays on the offensive, the vile liars of the left will be forced back into the corner of America where they belong. It is his silence... and the silence of all the good and normal people... that has empowered these idiots in the first place.

HAPPY 230th BIRTHDAY!!

-
Today is my day. The day that my brothers and I set aside each year to share a moment of fellowship (and cake, when possible). One thing that sets Marines apart is that we NEVER forget where we came from.

Our history is our life's blood.

“ There is no better friend, No worse Enemy than a United States Marine.”

A Marine as seen by...

Himself:
A handsome, buff, highly trained professional killer and female idol who carries a finely honed K-Bar, wears a crisp 8-point cammie cover and is always on time due to the absolute reliability of his Seiko digital watch.

His Wife:
A stinking, gross, foul mouthed lovable bum who arrives back at home every few months with a seabag full of dirty utilities, a huge Seiko watch, an oversized knife, a filthy hat and friskier then hell.

Headquarters Marine Corps:
A drunken, brawling, HMMWV-stealing, woman-corrupting "cumshaw artist" who wears a Seiko watch, an unauthorized K-Bar and a squared-away cover.

His Commanding Officer:
A fine specimen of a drunken, brawling, HMMWV-stealing, woman-corrupting bullsh***er with an incredibly accurate Seiko watch, a finely honed razor sharp K-Bar and a salty cammie cover.

What others have said:

Congress:
Marines are overpaid, overrated tax burdens who are indispensable since they volunteer to go anywhere at any time and kill whoever they're told to kill, as long as they can drink, brawl, steal HMMWVs, corrupt women and sing dirty songs while wearing cammies, oversized knives, Seiko watches and really screwed-up 8-point covers that don't look like the Army's.

Ronald Reagan:
"Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they've ever made a difference in the world. Marines don't have that problem."

General Douglas MacArthur, US Army:
". . . these Marines have the swagger, confidence and hardness that must have been in Stonewall Jackson's Army of the Shenandoah. They remind me of the Coldstream Guards at Dunkirk."

Admiral Chester Nimitz, US Navy, on the Marine Corps' battle for Iwo Jima:
"Uncommon valor was a common virtue"

General Douglas MacArthur, US Army:
"I have just returned from visiting the Marines at the front. There is not a finer fighting organization in the world!"

LtCol T R Fehrenbach, USA, in "This Kind of War":
"The man who will go where his colors go without asking, who will fight a phantom foe in a jungle or a mountain range, and who will suffer and die in the midst of incredible hardship, without complaint, is still what he has always been, from Imperial Rome to sceptered Britain to democratic America. He is the stuff of which legends are made. His pride is his colors and his regiment, his training hard and thorough and coldly realistic, to fit him for what he must face, and his obedience is to his orders. As a legionnaire, he held the gates of civilization for the classical world ... today he is called United States Marine."

An Anonymous Canadian Citizen:
"Marines are about the most peculiar breed of human beings I have ever witnessed. They treat their service as if it was some kind of cult, plastering their emblem on almost everything they own, making themselves up to look like insane fanatics with haircuts so short as to be ungentlemanly, worshipping their Commandant as if he was a god, and making weird animal noises like a band of savages. They'll fight like rabid dogs at the drop of a hat just for the sake of a little action and are the cockiest SOBs I've ever known. Most have the foulest mouths and drink well beyond man's normal limits, but their high spirits and sense of brotherhood set them apart and, generally speaking, of the United States Marines with whom I've come in contact, are the most professional warriors and the finest men I've had the pleasure to meet. "

General John J "Black Jack" Pershing, US Army:
"The deadliest weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle! "

General Mark Clark, US Army:
"The more Marines I have around the better I like it! "

General Johnson, US Army:
"I can never again see a United States Marine without experiencing a feeling of reverence. "

Richard Harding Davis, war correspondent (1885):
"The Marines have landed, and the situation is well in hand."

A Marine Drill Instructor at Parris Island:
"Did you come here just to spoil my beloved Corps, maggot?"

A boot camp weapons coach:
"To a Marine, happiness is a belt-fed weapon."

LtCol Oliver North, USMC (ret):
"The only people I like beside my wife and kids are Marines."

MajGen J N Mattis, CG, 1st MarDiv - Iraq, March 2003:
"You are part of the world's most feared and trusted fighting force. Engage your brain before you engage your weapon. Share your courage with each other as we enter the uncertain terrain north of our Line of Departure. Keep faith in your comrades on your left and right and Marine Air overhead. Fight with a happy heart and a strong spirit. For the mission's sake, our country's sake and the sake of the men who carried the Division's colors in past battles -- who fought for life and never lost their nerve -- carry out your mission and keep your honor clean. Demonstrate to the world there is 'No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy' than a United States Marine."

Eleanor Roosevelt - 1945:
"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps."

An Anonymous US Marine:
"I recently attended a Kansas City Chiefs football game at Arrowhead Stadium. It was their annual Veteran's Day tribute so members of all the services were asked to participate in the festivities.

A color guard for the National Anthem was provided by the Buffalo Soldiers Association. They looked very sharp in their 1800s-era US Army Cavalry uniforms. Following that, the Navy parachute team put on an impressive display that brought cheers from the 78,000 football fans in attendance. Shortly thereafter, we were treated to the truly awesome sight of an Air Force B-2 Spirit stealth bomber flyover as well as a few other aircraft. All of these sights -- but especially the B-2 -- were truly appreciated by the crowd who let it be known by their cheers.

I expected that was all we would see of the US Military that day. I thought we would see a high school or college marching band during half-time. Few watch those shows anyway because they have to go to the head or grab another beer during the intermission.

Shortly before half-time, however, I looked down on the sidelines near the end zone and saw the Marine Corps' Silent Drill Team forming up. As the half-time show started, the players left the field and the announcer came on the public address system to advise us of the Drill Team's performance. Many of us Marines have seen these performances in the past and they're always awe-inspiring. I didn't expect that the large civilian crowd of football fans would be as appreciative of the Drill Team as they had been of the high-tech B-2 or the daring of the Navy parachute team. However, I was on the edge of my seat. As the Drill Team marched onto the field, the crowd grew noticeably quieter. Soon, the team was fully into their demonstration. The stadium was absolutely silent.

From high in the stands' upper reaches where my seats were, I was able to hear the "snap" and "pop" of hands striking rifles. Both big screen "Jumbotron" scoreboards displayed close ups of the Marines as they went through their routine. As they completed their demonstration and lined up for the inspection, the crowd began cheering as the Marines twirled their rifles in impossible fashion. Then came the inspection. Again, the crowd fell silent and watched intently as rifles were thrown, caught, twirled, inspected and thrown some more. Each well-practiced feat brought a "wow" or "did you see that?" from those sitting around me.

I sat there in silent pride as I watched my brother Marines exit the field. A young girl behind me asked her mother a question about how the Marines learn to do the things they just did. The mother replied, "They practice long and hard and they're Marines; they're the best."
Semper Fidelis!!!

Hmmm... this one isn't going to play well in hollywood and berkely.

[[ Middle-class youths, not the poor, are providing the bulk of wartime recruits to the armed forces, according to a new study by a conservative think tank.

The Heritage Foundation research paper found that a higher percentage of middle-class and upper-middle-class families have been providing enlistees for the war on Islamic militants since the September 11 attacks on the United States.

Researchers matched the ZIP codes of recruits over the past five years with federal government estimates of household incomes in those neighborhoods. Contrary to complaints from some liberal lawmakers and pundits, the data show that the poor are not shouldering the bulk of the military's need for new soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines.

Some historical perspective from one of Conservatism's grand old men- Patrick J. Buchanan.

[[ The Romans conquered the barbarians—and the barbarians conquered Rome.

So it goes with empires. And comes now the penultimate chapter in the history of the empires of the West.

This is the larger meaning of the ritual murder of Theo Van Gogh in Holland, the subway bombings in London, the train bombings in Madrid, the Paris riots spreading across France. The perpetrators of these crimes in the capitals of Europe are the children of immigrants who were once the colonial subjects of the European empires.

Paris Burning: How Empires End

France is a strange "empire" in that they have been saved from the brink of utter defeat by others multiple times. Their response each time was not to work to ensure it wouldn't happen again; but instead to seemingly work toward the opposite. There is no question that their own policies of appeasement and the welfare society concept have brought on this latest assault.

Pathetic is the only word that rings.

History Just Won't Go Away For democrats

-
Memory Lane, anyone?

[[ The president went on television to announce: "Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors."

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years," the vice chairman of the Intelligence committee told the Senate.

The president was Bill Clinton (Dec. 16, 1998). The senator was Jay Rockefeller, a Democrat from West Virginia (Oct. 10, 2002).

These statements should be kept in mind when assessing the hissy fit Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid threw Tuesday when he called the Senate into secret session to discuss whether Bush administration officials had exaggerated prewar intelligence about Iraq.
]]

We all know that there were WMD's... and that the intelligence, although not perfect, was simply adding color to a picture the entire world knew to exist.

[[ "We've had six or seven credible reports of Iraqi weapons being moved into Syria before the war," a senior administration official told reporter Kenneth Timmerman.

Or it could be the Iraq Survey Group had an unusually restrictive definition of what constitutes a WMD stockpile.

The 4th Infantry Division discovered in an ammo dump near the town of Baiji 55 gallon drums of chemicals which, when mixed together, form nerve gas. They were stored next to surface-to-surface missiles which had been configured to carry a liquid payload.

If prewar intelligence was faulty, the fault lies with the CIA which supplied the erroneous information, not with the political leaders, Democratic and Republican, who relied upon it.
But Democrats who had access to the same intelligence President Bush had, and who because of it voted to authorize war with Iraq, are charging now that the president deliberately deceived the nation into war.

I wonder how pawn penn and the other hollywood ass-hats feel about their glorious Iran nowadays? First, Iran's president calls publicly for the complete destruction of Israel- and now, they are poisoning their own children's minds.

[[ Iranian state television has broadcast a cartoon that glorifies suicide bombings against Israelis, depicting a young boy blowing himself up after being told: "Go and show the Zionists how brave and heroic are the children of Palestine."

Truth Hurts, Eh, Frenchie?

Wow... this is a hard slap at the French for their decades of appeasment and lack of support for Israel and America. It is also very fair... and shows that hypocrisy can be a bitch when you're forced to confront it.

[[ Paris is now being targeted by violent rioting hordes. For years, the French accused American racism of having produced the race riots in the US in the 1960s and 1970s, as well as the Los Angeles riots after the Rodney King business. And the French are sure that only Jewish cussedness and just plain Israeli evil lie behind the behavior of the Palestinian pogromchiki. The Gall of dem Galls!Well, now that the French are experiencing their own intifada, we suggest that they resolve the problem using the very same plan that they have been trying for decades to impose upon Israel. Yes, comrades, it is time to implement the Land for Peace Plan, Paris-style. Here it is: ... ]]

The plan is then explained... showing how France has to face up to centuries of regressions and attempt to divide up land "fairly"...

The finish of the column is awesome:

[[ That, however, still does not solve the problem of the Holy City of Paris, sacred to artists, gourmets and adulterers. The Corsicans obviously have a historic claim to the Tomb of the Emperor Napoleon, their famed son, as well as the Invalides complex and beyond.

For the sake of peace, is it too much to ask that Paris be the capital for two peoples? The French authorities must agree to prevent French Parisians from even entering the sacred tomb area, lest this upset the Corsicans. The Saint Chapelle and the Church of Notre Dame, of course, will be internationalized, under joint Vatican-art-historical auspices.

Indeed, the French should consider it a compliment of the highest order that so many people see Paris as an international city. The French have nothing to complain about. They will enjoy the benefits of peace and retain control of the Champs Elysees.

Actually, come to think of it, even the Champs Elysees may be too much. Recalling the French position that Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel, perhaps the true French capital is not Paris at all, but Vichy.

The Worst Kind Of Traitor

-
Via Michelle Malkin we get this story of Jimmy Massey, the treacherous SOB who has lied and defamed my beloved Marine Corps. Now that people are actually looking into his filthy lies, it becomes clear that he is a deranged idiot who fabricated horrific tales.

With the 230th birthday of the Corps fast approaching (don't worry, you won't miss it), I am no mood for crap like this. Reading about this person makes my blood positively boil.

[[ In scores of newspaper, magazine and broadcast stories, at a Canadian immigration hearing and in numerous speeches across the country, Massey has told how he and other Marines recklessly, sometimes intentionally, killed dozens of innocent Iraqi civilians.

Among his claims:

Marines fired on and killed peaceful Iraqi protesters.

Americans shot a 4-year-old Iraqi girl in the head.

A tractor-trailer was filled with the bodies of civilian men, women and children killed by American artillery.

Massey's claims have gained him celebrity. Last month, Massey's book, "Kill, Kill, Kill," was released in France. His allegations have been reported in nationwide publications such as Vanity Fair and USA Today, as well as numerous broadcast reports. Earlier this year, he joined the anti-war bus tour of Cindy Sheehan, and he's spoken at Cornell and Syracuse universities, among others.

News organizations worldwide published or broadcast Massey's claims without any corroboration and in most cases without investigation. Outside of the Marines, almost no one has seriously questioned whether Massey, a 12-year veteran who was honorably discharged, was telling the truth.

He wasn't.

Each of his claims is either demonstrably false or exaggerated - according to his fellow Marines, Massey's own admissions, and the five journalists who were embedded with Massey's unit, including a reporter and photographer from the Post-Dispatch and reporters from The Associated Press and The Wall Street Journal.

ScAlito Looking Good

-
Here's one from the Washington Post- ostensibly trying to be fair and balanced.

[[ In private meetings with senators, Supreme Court nominee Samuel A. Alito Jr. has shown a willingness to discuss key issues -- a potentially risky strategy that so far seems to be serving him well, several senators said.

On contentious issues including privacy, property rights and public displays of religious beliefs, Alito has been more willing to share personal or judicial thoughts than were recently confirmed Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and White House counsel Harriet Miers, whose nomination was withdrawn, these senators said.

Classic.

[[ Closed meetings of official bodies normally are - and should be - anathema to journalists the public must depend upon to know what government officials are doing with the people’s business.

So why the free pass from the media earlier this week for Senate Democrats who banished reporters and spectators, dimmed the lights and closed the doors of the U.S. Senate?

Would things have been different if roles were reversed and it was GOP senators closing the Senate to yell at Democrats for protecting “leakers” in government?

Journalists’ outraged protests would have boomed as soon as the Senate doors closed, no doubt followed by anguished cries about “the death of the free press” and demands for the immediate tar and feathering of the GOP leadership.

Sadly, too many in the mainstream media just don’t see the link between such an obvious double standard among journalists and their already tattered credibility with the American people.

[[ The DRUDGE REPORT has learned from exclusive sources that Supreme Court nominee Samuel A. Alito Jr.’s 90 year-old mother Rose has become a prisoner in her own Hamilton, NJ home because of a barrage of media requests.

The quiet neighborhood Mrs. Alito has lived in for over 50 years has been turned upside down all week by a swarm of national reporters who have phoned and shown up at the doorstep of not only her but many of her neighbors.

In the last 24 hours alone, she and her neighbors have been contacted by national reporters from NEWSWEEK, CBS’ “EARLY SHOW,” THE BOSTON GLOBE and THE ASSOCIATED PRESS.

Outside of a trip to a local pizzeria and quick junket to her son’s home an hour and a half away, Rose Alito has been stuck inside all week.

One neighbor, who asked the DRUDGE REPORT to withhold their name so the press wouldn’t call them at home, was stunned at the treatment the 90 year-old grandmother had received. “Mama Alito is just a sweet lady and we don’t understand why she is being hounded by these reporters. She can’t even go outside and tend to her fall flowers. She’s just a proud mother, what do they want?”

When told of the latest Alito episode one Washington insider said, “Why are they harassing Judge Alito’s 90 year-old mother when he has written over 350 legal opinions? The media should leave Judge Alito’s mother alone. ”

Get 'Em While They're Young

-
We are seeing this trend here... and it is getting ridiculously over the top. The DFL figured out a long time ago that it's good to get the young brains while they're still developing.

This piece in Front Page is fascinating and compelling... it is a first hand look at liberal indoctrination techniques in K-12 schools.

[[ It is no longer a secret that many public and private universities are populated by professors who use their classrooms to recruit students to their political agendas. But while the politicization of the universities is now common knowledge, an even more distressing instance of this abuse is to be found in the nation’s K-12 schools.

I have that on good authority. I have been a teacher in Los Angeles-area elementary and middle schools and have witnessed first hand how students who are younger and more impressionable are being regularly indoctrinated by leftwing teachers. Having worked in a number of different school districts over the past five years, from the well-to-do Palisades to the hardscrabble Watts neighborhood, I can further attest that cases of indoctrination occur far more often than many would believe possible.

One such case involved a substitute teacher of my acquaintance. During his various stints at our school, he was notorious for compelling elementary-school students to sign random petitions in support of the political causes he favored. He wasn’t shy about foisting his views on other teachers, either. Once, when my classroom’s American flag accidentally fell, he immediately stuffed it into the closet. And, in a sense, who could blame him? Seeing that three quarters of our faculty were declining to recite the daily pledge with their students he had probably concluded that mistreating the flag would not be frowned upon.

[[ A new campaign aimed at removing President Bush from office is scheduled to begin with a noon rally today in San Francisco's Civic Center, followed by a march downtown.

Calling itself The World Can't Wait, the group was initiated in part by supporters of the Revolutionary Communist Party, and it has a simple goal: removing Bush from office by impeachment or resignation -- even if, according to the organization's Web site, they're not quite sure what should follow:

Bay Area organizer Federico Garcia said he hopes the demonstration's focus on a single goal will answer critics who say that anti-war demonstrations include many seemingly unrelated interests, from the plight of death row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal (who will be contributing a taped speech to today's San Francisco event) to the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.

Contrary to what one may think, I am not happy to hear that the religion of peace is destroying France. Actually, I am greatly disturbed by the news that there is rioting and attacks on police in French suburbs. It only reinforces the one basic fact that we must not forget: there is NO appeasing islamo-fascists. The French have done everything possible to curry favor with them, but in the end, they are just more infidels- albeit more pungent ones (couldn't resist).

Anyway, here is a classic story of reaping what one sows... because as surely as chuck schumer is a moron, appeasment has brought this to France.

[[ Tensions have been running high between police and gangs of youths in Clichy-sous-Bois, northeast of the capital, since the accidental death by electrocution last Thursday of two teenagers.

Many of the youths targeting police were angry at the deaths of two youths, aged 15 and 19, who were electrocuted after they scaled the wall of an electrical relay station and touched a transformer.
]]

Yep... a couple of young muslims were trespassing and got electrocuted... and that caused the rioting. Makes perfect sense... if you have studied ROP mob behavior at all.

"Unrest" In France

In describing the area, the article talks about the high unemployment, etc. What do you make of this curious sentence:

[[ Of the 28,000-plus residents of Clichy-sous-Bois, 50 percent of the population is under 25 and one-quarter of the breadwinners in each household have no job, according to the town's website. ]]

If you have no job... then how the hell are you considered a "breadwinner"??? Wow... are they out of whack, or what?
