MURTHA ALERT

-
Sent to me by the good folks at Boot Murtha.

[[ Oct. 31, 2006

THE LAST FULL MEASURE…

Murtha-Booters!

We have come to the last few days of our campaign, and what a campaign it has been! With your help, John Murtha’s chances of being elected to a 17th term in the US Congress have diminished more than anyone thought possible. And now we are on the verge of accomplishing the impossible!

In the next few days we are making our final push to deny John Murtha the votes of reasonable people who have supported him in the past. Toward that end, we have begun running our own TV ad within the district. We will also continue to place newspaper ads pointing up Murtha’s connection with un-American political elements—like:

Code Pink, those putrid, pathetic people who harass injured Iraq War troops outside Walter Reed Army Hospital each Friday evening;

George Soros, the America-hating multi-billionaire currency speculator who throws his bank account behind any left-wing cause that comes to his attention; and

Michael Moore, the darling of the American left, who blames all our nation’s ills on gun owners, Christians, and conservative politicians.

These are Murtha’s people. They have big money behind them. And they have passion—the problem with THEIR passion, however, is that it’s pure, undisguised hatred for people like us. You should SEE some of the hate mail we get. It’s so vile I can’t even quote it, but suffice it to say that the “F” word shows up frequently.

Who are our people? Well, they certainly aren’t billionaires and movie moguls and international financiers, but they have passion—a passion that is focused on saving their country, not destroying it. Some ask how we think we can overcome the millions of dollars that the radical left has available to counter our bare-bones campaign.

Easy—we have the kind of passion that translates into ACTION, the action that sees our Operation Street Corner volunteers braving the harassment of Murtha goons and foul weather in order to acquaint 12th District voters with “The REAL John Murtha.” We have the kind of passion that motivates literally HUNDREDS of letter-writers to saturate the in-boxes of district newspapers.

You are part of that. Your passion has made and is making the difference. John Murtha is going to lose; he’s beginning to understand that, and you can be sure that he will pull out all the stops to save his bacon. He has already resorted to the use of foul language in referring to us as “scumbags.” And, addressing our efforts to bring the truth to his district, he said, “Screw them.”

This will be the last time I will ask for your financial support. It is also the most critical time, as we have made a dynamite little TV spot that is demonstrating to voters exactly what Murtha’s association with Code Pink signifies, and that is a selling out of American servicemen and servicewomen. You can view it online now: CLICK HERE

We will run this ad as many times as your contributions enable us to run it. In an ideal situation, we would run it hundreds of times in various TV markets. In addition, we have a series of newspaper ads that we will be running, and we plan to take our bank account down to zero in getting the word out about Code Pink, Brother Kit, and ABSCAM.

One last time—HELP US! This is America ’s fight, and we owe it to those brave souls in the 12th District of Pennsylvania to help them get rid of this monster who thinks he owns that district. By defeating John (al-Jazeera Jack) Murtha, we will deprive the America-haters of one of their most visible spokesman, and we will be sending a strong message of support to the men and women who are fighting on battlefields around the world.

Thank you for your past support, and I will see you at our victory party as soon after the election as we can organize it!

Yours for a Congress without John Murtha!

Good Advice From john kerry

-
While campaigning for a fellow loser, kerry actually said this:

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

Yep. That's right, kids: if you don't do your homework, you'll wind up in the military with the other stupid losers.

Now, that's support of the troops, folks.

Here's more from Michelle, including audio... in case you want to hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

Greetings and salutations, Dear Readers. Thanks for supporting my progeny while I was gone.

I am very, very grateful and proud of the Liberal Pounder (and her little sister). I should mention that she has a very hectic and busy life of her own... and it wasn't the most simple thing for her to find time for this.

Okay... well, let's start with a picture. I was away on work, but I did find time to visit my family in my homeland of Colorado- but only for a few days. Anyway, here's what it looks like there at this time of year.

All right, let's get back to work here!

Funniest stories of the weekend...

Dixie Chick's Natalie Maines Still Gutted Over THAT Bush Apology
from musicworld news
While performing in London in 2003 Maines expressed her distress that Bush was a fellow Texan and apologised for Bush's behaviour while at the White House.

After a huge baklash in the US Maines apologised for dissing Bush saying: "I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect".
But she didn't really mean it, and everyone knew it, after that the Chicks saw a huge dive on concert ticket sales and lack of radio airplay in some more 'southern' states.
Today Maines is still pissed off with her self for caving in and not standing by what she believed in, she said: "I did feel that the office of the president should be shown respect but I have to say sometimes you have to earn people's respect and I have none".Maines knows now that she should have just claimed to be drunk, but she didn't, she added: "I wasn't about to say, 'Oh sorry, I didn't mean it, I was drunk, let's go to rehab...' Sales probably would have been huge".

-"Yeah, sure they would have!"

Woman wallops intruder with cooking pot

MUNCIE, Ind. --A woman watching television in her nightgown raced from her bedroom and attacked a man with a cooking pot after he stole golf clubs from her porch, police said.

Sabrena Davis said she first grabbed a knife after a neighbor yelled to tell her that a man had taken the clubs, but then decided to instead attack him with a 10-inch cooking pot.
"I started beating him with it. He asked for it," she said.

Pink plastic flamingo faces extinction

LEOMINSTER, Mass. - The day Mayor Dean Mazzarella turned 40, he got a surprise. "After I woke up and went out for my morning run, I came back and there were 40 pink flamingos in my front lawn," Mazzarella recalled. "Someone had put them there as a joke."
Now that he's 49 — "the same age as the pink flamingo," he notes — he hopes both he and the iconic lawn ornament that his city claims as its own will still be around next year to celebrate 50.
But the original version of the plastic flamingo may be singing its swan song after inspiring countless pranks — and being alternately celebrated as a tribute to one of nature's most graceful creatures and derided as the epitome of American pop culture kitsch.
Union Products Inc. stopped producing flamingos and other lawn ornaments at its Leominster factory in June, and is going out of business Nov. 1 — a victim of rising expenses for plastic resin and electricity, as well financing problems.

Because we don't have enough variety in our fried food selections... fried drinks!

NEW YORK, Oct 26 (Reuters Life!) - A new fast food is making its debut at U.S. fairs this fall -- fried Coke.
bel Gonzales, 36, a computer analyst from Dallas, tried about 15 different varieties before coming up with his perfect recipe -- a batter mix made with Coca-Cola syrup, a drizzle of strawberry syrup, and some strawberries.
Balls of the batter are then deep-fried, ending up like ping-pong ball sized doughnuts which are then served in a cup, topped with Coca-Cola syrup, whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and a cherry on the top.
Gonzales ran two stands at the State Fair of Texas and sold up to 35,000 fried Cokes over 24 days for $4.50 each -- and won a prize for coming up with "most creative" new fair food.
Now other fairs in North Carolina and Arizona are following the trend, and other people are trying to emulate Gonzales' recipe.
Gonzales gave no indication of the calories in his creation and said he would not patent it.
"The best I can hope for is that it's the original and hopefully the best fried Coke out there," he said.

The Islamic Web Patrol

So, between Jihad web-sites, online pamphlets and indoctrinating all these new terrorists, where do they find the time to abuse women and strike fear into the hearts of innocent people?

This is a good read. It's a part of this peaceful religion that I hadn't thought about, but obviously must play a big part in their operation.

U.S. seen balking at challenge by Islamist Web
By David Morgan Sat Oct 28, 11:20 AM ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters)

- The Bush administration is failing to counter Islamist online propaganda that could propel militancy into the next generation, experts say.
From the Middle East, Asia and Europe, Islamists have built an expansive Internet library of sophisticated texts on the ideology that underpins violence against the West and other enemies, analysts and intelligence officials said.
"It's a steady, stealthy indoctrination aimed at creating a whole new generation of jihadists. And scandalously, it is unopposed," said Stephen Ulph, who studies the Islamist Web for the Jamestown Foundation, a Washington think tank.
E-books and online pamphlets, with titles such as "39 Ways to Serve and Participate in Jihad," encourage the growth of home-grown militant cells across the world, including in such Western countries as Canada and Britain, the experts believe.
U.S. intelligence is reluctant to mount an effective counteroffensive by recruiting Islamic experts from overseas to rebut and even ridicule Islamist authors, according to experts and U.S. officials.
"Anything exposing the West as a supporter would destroy Islamic opposition to the jihadis," one intelligence official on condition of anonymity. "We are completely out of luck with the Muslim world, across the board."

Lynn Cheney For President Of The World!!

-
From Drudge:

[[ LYNN CHENEY IN CNN SITDOWN, SLAPDOWN: DO YOU WANT AMERICA TO WIN?
Fri Oct 27 2006 18:29:49 ET

Lynne Cheney, wife of Vice President Dick Cheney, took on CNN Friday evening during an interview with anchorman Wolf Blitzer.

Transcript:

CHENEY: You made a point last night of a man who had a bookstore in London where radical islamists gathered. Who was in Afghanistan when the Taliban were there. Who went to Pakistan. You know, I think that you might be a little careful before you declare this as a person with clean hands.

WOLF: You are receiving to the CNN "Broken Government" special. This is the one John King reported on last night.

CHENEY: Right there, Wolf. 'Broken Government.' What kind of stance is that? Here we are. We are a country where we have been mightily challenged over the past six years. We've been through 9/11, we've been through Katrina. The president and the vice president inherited a recession. We are in a country where the economy is healthy. That's not broken. This government has acted very well. We have tax cuts responsible for the healthy economy. We are a country that was attacked five years ago. We haven't been attacked since. What this government has done is effective. That's not broken government. So, you know, I shouldn't let media bias surprise me, but I worked at CNN once. I watched a program last night.

WOLF: You worked on CROSSFIRE.

CHENEY: ...And i was troubled.

WOLF: All right. Well that was probably the purpose, to get people to think. To get people to discuss these issues. Because --

CHENEY: Well, all right. Wolf, I'm here to talk about my book. But if you want to talk about distortion --

WOLF: We'll talk about your book.

CHENEY: Right, but what is CNN doing? Running terrorist tape of terrorists shooting Americans. I mean, I thought [Rep.] Duncan Hunter asked you a very good question, and you didn't answer it. Do you want us to win?

WOLF: The answer of course is we want the United States to win. We are Americans. There's no doubt about that.

CHENEY: Then why are you running terrorist propaganda?

WOLF: Well all do respect, this is not terrorist propaganda.

CHENEY: Oh, wolf.

WOLF: This is reporting the news. Which is what we do, we are not partisan.

CHENEY: Where did you get the film?

WOLF: We got the film, look, this is an issue that has been widely discussed. This is an issue we reported on extensively. We make no apologies for showing that. That was a very carefully-considered decision why we did that. And I think, I think --

CHENEY: Well I think it's shocking.

WOLF: If you are a serious journalist, you want to report the news. Sometimes the news is good, sometimes the news isn't so good.

CHENEY: But wolf, there's a difference between news and terrorist propaganda.

Cheney also took on Virginia senate challenger Jim Webb.

JIM WEBB: There's nothing that's been in in of my novels that in my view, hasn't been either illuminating surroundings are defining a character or moving a plot. I'm a serious writer. I mean, we can go and read Lynne Cheney's lesbian love scenes if you want to get graphic on stuff.

CHENEY: Jim Webb is full of baloney. I have never written anything sexually explicit. His novels are full of, um, sexual explicit reference to sex. Sexually explicit references to, well, I don't want my grandchildren to turn on the television set. This morning Imus was reading from the novels. And it's triple X-rated.

Science bites myth of vampires, ghosts By SETH BORENSTEIN, AP Science Writer
Thu Oct 26, 7:50 PM ET

WASHINGTON - It may be the season for vampires, ghosts and zombies. Just remember, they're not real, warns physicist Costas Efthimiou. Obviously, you might say. But Efthimiou, a professor at the University of Central Florida, points to surveys that show American gullibility for the supernatural.

Using science and math, Efthimiou explains why it is ghosts can't walk among us while also gliding through walls, like Patrick Swayze in the movie "Ghost." That violates Newton's law of action and reaction. If ghosts walk, their feet apply force to the floor, but if they go through walls they are without substance, the professor says.

"So which is it? Are ghosts material or material-less?" he asks.

Zombies and vampires fare even worse under Efthimiou's skeptical microscope.

Link to the whole story.

Of course, there's another side to this phenom...Here's a cool website that has a lot of crap to tell you about why they are real and they do float among us. There's also a lot of creepy-ass pictures.
Enjoy!

Democrats can't be funny!

I wrote the following letter to About.com regarding their horribly un-funny politcal humor writer. If you get bored, do the same! Someone needs to tell these editors that bashing the President and mis-quoting republicans isn't necessarily funny (I mean, it can be but they suck at telling jokes.)

To Whom it May Concern,

Please take into consideration firing Mr. Kurtzman and replacing him with someone who is actually funny. Listing a bunch of offensive qualities that mean "you might be a republican..." is so out-of-date (Jeff Foxworthy peaked in the early nineties) and dumb that it's almost laughable (but like I said, I never laughed cause it wasn't funny at all.) How about "you might be a liberal weenie if the only jokes you can come up with are based on mis-quoting republicans who spend their time doing real work."

Sincerely, Jessica Lynette Grinstead

PS, to Mr. Kurtzman:

I'm pro-life and pro death penalty because the baby didn't do anything wrong. In fact, the poor baby hasn't even been born yet! Isn't that hilarious??? You phony, no good, inmate-loving, pansy boy.

I heart Bindi Sue Irwin!

I really love the Irwin family's positive attitudes and devotion to their causes. They're the kind of environmentalists that I don't want to run over with my car. The product of their genuine longing to help the wildlife is Bindi Sue Irwin. She is more motivated than most college kids and her ability to overcome such a tragedy as what happened to her father is amazing. Here is her speech given at her dad's memorial service:

In front of a crowd of 5000 and a worldwide television audience of more than 300 million viewers,[13] Bindi read the following statement at her father's public memorial service on September 20, 2006:

" My Daddy was my hero – he was always there for me when I needed him. He listened to me and taught me so many things, but most of all he was fun.
I know that Daddy had an important job. He was working to change the world so everyone would love wildlife like he did. He built a hospital to help animals and he bought lots of land to give animals a safe place to live.

He took me and my brother and my Mum with him all the time. We filmed together, caught crocodiles together and loved being in the bush together.

I don’t want Daddy’s passion to ever end. I want to help endangered wildlife just like he did.

I have the best Daddy in the whole world and I will miss him every day. When I see a crocodile I will always think of him and I know that Daddy made this zoo so everyone could come and learn to love all the animals. Daddy made this place his whole life and now it’s our turn to help Daddy."

Sniff, sniff. Now, please, let's all watch her 26-part wildlife documentary. It's called Bindi the Jungle Girl airing on the Discovery Kids television network and is scheduled to premiere January 2007. (Who's got the agenda now?)

Hey, that pizza's still good!

I really don't like "environmentalists." To me, the "ist" means "agenda." Enviromentalists use ploys and scare tactics to guilt people into believing whatever they say. It's mean. They're bullies and since people are basically good-hearted, they buy their bologna and end up feeling unnecessarily guilty. My friend brought up recycling in class today and it resurfaced an old sore spot I have. Basically, recycling is waaaayyyy over-rated (shocking, I know!) and landfills are unfailry and quite grossly stereotyped. (Get it, gross....)
This particular article was published in the New York Times in 1996 by a journalist named John Tierney. He does a nice job digging through all the environmental and political crap that gets associated with trash. (Get it, digging...through crap...)

Recycling Is Garbage

Rinsing out tuna cans and tying up newspapers may make you feel virtuous, but recycling could be America's most wasteful activity.

This article is very interesting and full of great anti-recycling facts.

Republicans: The future in Hollywood?

Here's a cool little video about republicans in Hollywood.

From PoliticalHawk at You Tube

A-HOY HOY, Liberal Pounder here!

Hi there! I'm Jessika, AKA Liberal Pounder.

Now, I don't know how much lib butt-whooping I actually get done, but I do try to bring a little reality into my bleeding heart liberal peers' lives. See, my situation (being a conservative minded college student) places me on the front line of constant battle-mode. Even my friends call me a "war-monger" (or worse.) It's weird, I really believe I am a genuinely great advocate for peace...I just also happen to acknowledge and accept the unfortunate realities of life. Like paying taxes or having to get a checkup at the dentist, freedom costs something. It's not enough to throw a peace sign up and smoke a joint. I know that. But, my "liberal pounding" comes to a head when I try to remind my fellows of these simple truths.
So, with eloquence and wisdom far beneath KMG's expectations and in between homework and regular work, I'm going to post a few mildly informative and entertaining pieces in KMG's stead. Peace out!

Gotta have 'em all!

Update on the situation with Madonna starting her kid-collection.

LIPUNGA, Malawi (Reuters) -- The father of the Malawian boy Madonna plans to adopt added a fresh twist to the saga, saying he never intended his son to be adopted by the pop diva, but only for her to raise the child on his behalf.

In an interview with Reuters Television in his home village of Lipunga on Saturday, Yohane Banda said Madonna asked that she be able to raise his one-year-old son on his behalf, rather than that the child should become her own.

Banda's statement is a major shift from his earlier remarks last week when he railed against human rights groups that have gone to court to stop Madonna from adopting his son David.

"Had they told us that Madonna wanted to adopt my son and make him her own son, we would not have agreed to that," Banda said in his local language of Chichewa.

"It would have been better for him to continue staying at the orphanage because I see no reason why my child should be given away forever when I can feed him," he said, speaking at his village of Lipunga near the Zambia border late on Saturday.

Wild (And Dangerous) Liberals

-
It's been a while since I've posted any of Victor Davis Hanson's brilliant work. This is a penetrating overview of the insane left's current antics.

[[ Why do Republicans drive leftists so crazy these days? Liberal democrats are beginning to sound like rowdy students on spring break, shrieking and exhibiting themselves on camera.

Consider some of the recent rabid outbursts by once sober, old-guard politicians. West Virginia Sen. Jay Rockefeller insists that the world would be better off if Saddam were still running Iraq. Crotchety Congressman John Murtha, of Pennsylvania, rushed to announce that our Marines were guilty of killing Iraqis in "cold blood" before they were tried. Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin has compared our interrogators at Guantanamo Bay to Nazis, while Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry said our soldiers have "terrorized" Iraqi women and children.

Then there is the constant anger from Democratic ex-presidents. It used to be that out-of-office chief executives kept relatively hush. Presidents Ford and Bush Sr. - both voted out of office - did not bray when President Clinton had his trials, personal and otherwise.

What sends liberal criticism over the edge into pathological hysteria?

Is it that George Bush is a polarizing figure, not just in terms of his Iraq policy, but also because of his Christian Texan demeanor?

Or is the current left-wing savagery also a legacy of the tribal 1960s, when out-of-power protestors felt that expressions of speaking bluntly, even crudely, were at least preferable to "artificial" cultural restraint? Why should graying veterans of the barricades, then, remain "polite" when their country's less sophisticated red-state yokels are taking it in the wrong direction?

The Democrats have not elected congressional majorities in 12 years, and they've occupied the White House in only eight of the last 26 years. The left's current unruliness seems a way of scapegoating others for a more elemental frustration - that they can't gain a national majority based on their core beliefs. More entitlements, higher taxes to pay for them, gay marriage, de facto quotas in affirmative action, open borders, abortion on demand, and radical secularism - these liberal issues don't tend to resonate with most Americans.

How Do You Spell Enemy?

-
C-N-N.

I won't go into a full diatribe on those evil bastards showing terrorist propaganda films. It is virtually as low as they could possibly go.

They have open comments on it here. I would caution you that many, many barking, raving moonbats have commented there and they will get your blood going. Anyway, this is what I wrote them (don't know if they will publish it because they are screening the comments):

"Actually, I don't think you were irresponsible for posting the videos. That is not the appropriate word. I think you did it in a very calcuating way in order to help your political allies. That means you are putting politics ahead of the lives of my fellow service people.

You are fully aware that our enemy uses videos like this to motivate and recruit. You are also fully aware that some Americans will be demotivated by them.

No, "irresponsible" does not cover it. "Despicable" and "treasonous" are much better words.

"I want to go back. I want to be with my team again. I want to complete the tour of duty and then I want to come home."

How Do You Fight A Well-Armed, Determined Enemy?

-
Well, if you're a liberal, you do it with District Attorneys and warrants and affidavits.

If you're not insane, you do it with overwhelming force. Consider this problem:

[[ The U.S. Border Patrol and other law enforcement agencies at the U.S.-Mexico border are outgunned by increasingly ruthless and well-armed Mexican drug cartels, a new congressional report concludes.

"The cartels use automatic assault weapons, bazookas, grenade launchers and improvised explosive devices," the House Homeland Security oversight subcommittee report said. "In contrast, U.S. Border Patrol agents are issued 40-caliber Beretta semiautomatic pistols."
]]

Drug Cartels Outgunning Border Patrol, Others

Don't get me wrong, the .40 cal is a great round. I use one myself at work. Decent stopping power and all that. Not quite up to battling AK-47's and grenade launchers, though.

No, for this problem, we need a better answer. Like... this, maybe:

Here's more from the world of balanced journalism. This time, we have an actual study.

[[ Network news stories have painted a bleak picture of an economy in decline in an effort to keep President Bush's approval numbers low, according to a study released Monday by a group dedicated to challenging misconceptions in the media about free enterprise.

The Business and Media Institute (BMI) report "Bad News Bears: How Networks Distort a Good Economy and Batter President Bush" is the result of an analysis of all stories referring to the "economy" or "economic" news on the evening news shows of all three broadcast networks between Aug. 1, 2005, and July 31, 2006

Bias? No Way!

-
Stunned. That's what I was when I saw the level of political bias in this "news" report.

Yeah, yeah... I know that I should stop being surprised by this stuff, but... wow! This one is something special. True that it is just one in a million politically motivated "stories" that the DFL and their media lackys are pushing prior to the elections. This "writer," though, has gone above and beyond. She... oh, just read it and see for yourself.

See? Even the title is special! "Uncertain economy..." Good Lord!

Hey, Republicans! Are You Listening?

-
I am a pretty good judge of people, and Newt Gingrich has always struck me as a very, very smart man and a visionary. I know him to be a student (and author) on military history, and he is definitely wise on matters of politics and statesmanship. He is one of those people that we should all listen to when he speaks.

Well, Uncle Newt returns this week with a very substantial essay, instructing the Republican congress on how best to proceed in the coming weeks prior to election day.

To sum it up, he is telling the GOP to give the voters a choice.

[[ The elite media are giddy with anti-Republican euphoria. Their coverage has not been this biased against Republicans in three decades.

The Democrats are excited and convinced they will win a big victory.

Republicans are worried, demoralized and confused. I have been in eight states recently and the mood is similar everywhere.

Yet, an election is a choice between two futures. By simply comparing the positions of each party based upon historic facts, the choice of the desired future will become clear to the majority of the American people. And that choice is neither one in which Democrats celebrate nor Republicans concede.

Here is the choice for 2006. ...

...with nuclear weapons.

This is not easy to read. North Korea is making a push to eclipse Nazi Germany in the unspeakable atrocity department.

[[ THE North Korean regime's obsession with racial purity has led to the killing of disabled infants and forced abortions for women suspected of conceiving their babies by Chinese fathers, according to a growing body of testimony from defectors.

The latest description of Kim Jong-il's policy of state eugenics came from a North Korean doctor, Ri Kwang-chol, who escaped last year and told a forum in Seoul that babies with deformities were killed soon after birth.

"There are no people with physical defects in North Korea," Dr Ri said. Such babies were put to death by medical staff and buried quickly, he claimed. He denied ever committing the act himself.

Loyal Opposition? democrats??

-
That is beyond laughable.

Here's a great column on how the democrats have destroyed every opportunity to do the right thing for the country- simply because they are having childish tantrums at being out of power.

[[ The 18th century British statesman Edmund Burke observed, "Those who have once been intoxicated with power, and have derived any kind of emolument from it, even though for one year, can never willingly abandon it."

This truism was echoed by James F. Byrnes, Supreme Court justice and Harry Truman's Secretary of State, in 1956, when he noted that "Power intoxicates men, it is never voluntarily surrendered."

This explains the reason behind the brutal attacks by the Democrats since the elections in 2000, and 2004. They were so intoxicated with power by having ruled the Congress - not for just one year - but for most of the 20th Century, they were incensed with having lost both elections - and more importantly both houses of Congress - that they were incapable of being the loyal opposition.

Are They Starting To Wake Up?

-
Maybe a little... but the jury is still out as far as I'm concerned.

Many of us have been wondering for a long time when the liberals and feminists would realize that islam is profoundly antithetical to their ideas and lifestyles. In fact, feminists and liberals would be among the very first into the gas chambers and stoning pits if (or "when," if you're pessimistic) islam takes over the world.

Finally, we see a woman face up to this issue (at least a little bit).

[[ We are on the wrong track if we believe that veils are a religious issue. They're not. Like fat, they're a feminist issue. The clothes that women wear, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, are a powerful political statement about where they're at; about the amount of freedom, self-esteem or independence they possess.

The veil which covers the face, the niqab, is an enormously potent symbol of subjugation to a (male-controlled) religion. It is what Muslim men want. It is about control of women; about forced chastity. The veil sends out a very clear message that the woman behind it abides by the conventions of the Muslim faith; that she places the approval of men above her own self-expression.
]]

I was with her for most of her column... and then she did what they always do: she played the dreaded moral equivalence card. She just had to slip to the usual liberal tactic of saying that all religions are bad and Christianity is basically the same thing as islam. Check out this grabber:

[[ When religions are run by men (and show me one that isn't) all the evidence points to the fact that they will use anything they can - dress, custom or theology - to subjugate women and control their sexuality. They want to remove individuality. Their end game is symbolised in the anonymity of the nun's habit or the burqa. They want women as submissive, unseen and unheard as possible. ]]

That is just about as full of crap as any statement I've ever seen. Comparing a Catholic Nun and the clothing she CHOOSES to wear to a subjugated muslim woman is the height of idiocy. Okay, perhaps she is not an idiot... maybe she is just completely ignorant of exactly what role Nuns play in the Catholic Church.

"Unseen and unheard?" Really? Why, then, are our Nuns highly educated and placed in positions of great authority at teaching institutions all over the world? Why was Mother Teresa one of the most "seen and heard" human beings of all time? Because the Church was "subjugating" them? Tell me something else- when was the last time you heard of a Nun being killed or threatened with death by other Catholics for not wearing the correct clothing? And get this, smart one: Nuns sometimes choose to leave their orders and return to secular life. Can muslim women choose that? Can they?? Let me answer that for you... no, the can't.

Liberal stupidity and vile Christian bashing. That is all we will ever get from these people... even when they are seemingly pushing back at islam.

Fools... all of them.

Anyway, here's the whole thing if you want to read it.

North Korea's nuclear weapon program is, apparently, alive and well (or, maybe not "well", but definitely alive). Who do we have to thank for this? Notice To DFL Morons:

-
Your poster child was a murdering criminal who routinely shot people for displaying liberal tendencies.

As we discussed last October HERE and HERE, the idiots on the left are clueless about the true nature of the vile and unspeakably evil Che Guevara. They continue to lionize him... with hollywood asshats sporting tatoos of him, and average, empty-headed youngsters wearing all kinds of "Che gear."

All the things they like to say they are against (and that they accuse the Bush "regime" of) were actually perpetrated by Che and company- undeniably and absolutely. There is not even a gray area here... he admits to being an "executioner" in his own words.

Willfully ignorant they remain.

Anyway, here is a nice reminder in Front Page Magazine:

[[ Thirty nine years ago last week, Ernesto "Che" Guevara got a major dose of his own medicine. Without trial he was declared a murderer, stood against a wall and shot. Historically speaking, justice has rarely been better served. If the saying, "what goes around comes around" ever fit, it's here. The number of men Che's "revolutionary tribunals" condemned to death in the identical manner range from 400 to 1,892. The number of defenseless men (and boys) Che personally murdered with his own pistol runs to the dozens. Imagine Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, and Son of Sam t-shirts on such as Johnny Depp and Prince Harry. Granted, these last three didn't match Che's murder tally.

"Executions?" Che Guevara exclaimed while addressing the hallowed halls of the UN General Assembly December 9, 1964. "Certainly, we execute! " he declared to the claps and cheers of that August body. "And we will continue executing (emphasis his) as long as it is necessary! This is a war to the DEATH against the Revolution's enemies!"

Compare And Contrast

-
The last thing I want to do is get started on this Congressman Foley thing. I am sick to death of it.

Having said that, though, I'll spend a moment reading and posting words from Charles Krauthammer- and not just because he is one of the smartest men out there. This comparison needs to be made... and people need to think hard about this double standard.

[[ IN 1983, REPRESENTATIVE GERRY Studds, Democrat of Massachusetts, admitted to having sex with a 17-year-old male page. He was censured by the House of Representatives. During the vote, which he was compelled by House rules to be present for, Studds turned his back on the House to show his contempt for his colleagues' reprimand. He was not expelled from the Democratic Caucus. In fact, he was his party's nominee in the next election in his district--and the next five after that--winning reelection each time. He remained in the bosom of the Democratic Caucus in the House for the next 13 years.

In 2006, Republican congressman Mark Foley was found to have been engaged in lurid sexual Internet correspondence with a 16-year-old House page. There is no evidence yet of his ever laying a hand on anyone, let alone having sex with a page. When discovered, he immediately resigned. Had he not, says Republican House Speaker Dennis Hastert, "I would have demanded his expulsion." Not only is Foley gone, but half the Republican House leadership has been tarred. Hastert himself came within an inch of political extinction.

Am I missing something? There seems to be an odd difference in the disposition of the two cases. By any measure, what Studds did was worse. By any measure, his treatment was infinitely more lenient.
]]

You're not missing anything, Charles. The liberals, as usual, are complete and total hypocrites as they assail this "scandal" for political gain.

They are far, far beneath contempt.

This would be funny if it weren't so sad. A man with a legal permit to carry a gun uses it to defend himself from a vicious attacker-- all in front of several witnesses. You can feel the writer's cognitive dissonance as he tries to explain that it was actually legal for the man to defend himself.

Shhh... Don't Tell Anyone

That seems to be the approach the old media uses when the economy is the topic. Here are even more signs of just how great things are for the country.

Deficit Down... Again

Notice that it is the evil corporations that are doing it... because they are being allowed to thrive and that is good for everyone!

Unemployment Down (Again), Wages Up (Again)

Wages up?? But... the democrats haven't raised the mandatory minimum wage yet because the evil Republicans won't let them... how can this be???

Seriously... this is insane. If the democrats were in power, we would hear nothing else besides how wonderful the economy is.

The liberals have already said that one of the first things they will do is to raise taxes, if they get power back. In other words, they will bring this stunning economic growth to a screeching halt.

Please, Lord... please don't let these morons back in power. I know the Republicans are being idiots, too... but there is a HUGE difference.

***** UPDATE *****

A Writer Discovers The Truth...

-
...and sees things for what they are.

[[ TOM Wolfe says a jarring scene he recently witnessed in Tennessee convinced him that writers who live in New York and on the Left Coast are out of touch with the rest of the country. In the upcoming book, "Telling True Stories," the "Bonfire of the Vanities" novelist says he watched in amazement at a NASCAR race last month as a National Rifle Association honcho got a rousing standing ovation, and was followed by a minister who "asked the Lord to look out for these brave drivers and these loyal fans . . . in the name of Thy Only Son, Christ Jesus." Writes Wolfe: "Anyone who introduced an event that way in San Francisco or New York would risk arrest for a hate crime. New York writers really must cross the Hudson River, and writers in Los Angeles really must go as far as the San Joaquin Valley. Most of the meaning of America lies in between the coasts, I'm afraid." ]]

Progress And Hope For Babies

-
Abortionists have so convinced themselves that killing babies is good that it takes them a very long time to see the truth.

Here's one professor who has had a change of heart... at least partially. I could be angry that he still thinks early abortions are okay- but instead I'll focus on the fact that he is coming around and may convince others. In fact, if his words change even one woman's mind and save one little life, it will be very good.

[[ There is something deeply moving about the image of a baby cocooned inside the womb. When four-dimensional scans first became available three years ago, I sat with parents who trembled at the sight of their soon-to-be newborn. They told me they wanted to stroke its downy head.

Advanced scanning means we have a window on the secret life of foetuses. At 11 weeks we can see them yawn, and even take steps. At 22 weeks, they begin to open their eyes.

Between 20 and 24 weeks we watch as they seem to cry, smile and frown. Understandably, these incredible images have influenced the debate on abortion. I pioneered the 4-D scanning technique in the UK and it has certainly caused me to question my own opinions.
]]

Keep questioning, Doc... until you make the final leap to the absolute truth that it is wrong, wrong, wrong to kill babies. You're off to a good start, though.

I love it when "intellectuals" finally see the forest and not just the trees. Now they realize there might just be a tiny problem with the whole muslim thing.

[[ “I cannot work, I cannot come and go. I have to hide,” he said. “So . . . the Islamists have succeeded in punishing me on the territory of the Republic as if I were guilty of a crime of opinion.” ]]

This is what American liberals are still failing to see. It is some kind of fatal flaw (they have many) that makes them impervious to a threat, even when it is virtually in their face.

Finally! The Plan!

-
Speaking of the morally and strategically bankrupt DFL, here is Doug Patton with a preview of the democrats' war plans- for implementation once they regain power.

[[ Many Democrats seem to believe that the United States of America is an evil, imperialist power bent on forcing liberty, democracy, prosperity and peace down the throats of a people previously content with tyranny, ignorance, poverty and violence. As commander-in-chief of the American armed forces, this thinking goes, George W. Bush illegally invaded a sovereign nation, overthrew its government and its leader, Saddam Hussein (a hero who was duly elected by his people with an amazing 100 percent of the vote). In place of this stable system of government, which Saddam had so lovingly nurtured for so many years, Bush callously coerced the Iraqi people into participating in a free election to determine their own destiny.

In the loony-tunes world of George Soros and Howard Dean, the current financial and ideological powers behind the Democratic Party, this kind of foreign policy is completely unacceptable.

Always willing to do my part to clear up any confusion about liberal motives and intentions, I offer the following four-step plan, based on my keen observation of the political scene, as a guide to the policies Democrats would like to pursue in Iraq:

Perspective, Party Lines, And Hypocrisy

-
Honestly, I am reaching a saturation point with politicians and elections and everything that comes with them. Congress is filled with child predators and embezzelors and every other kind of criminal you could name... but the party line is held on both sides. The party line is all that matters.

Well, I say that the party line is exactly why our country is in such a mess. We have grown accustomed to "compromising" our own convictions for the greater good of the party- and now we are really paying for it.

This is exactly why I am and always will be an Independent. I often lean toward the Republican side- because their "party line" favors the traditionalist and Conservative viewpoint... or at least it used to. I'm not so sure anymore.

I am sure, though, that the democrats have long ago abandoned any semblance of traditional American values. They are also completely bereft of any moral rectitude whatsoever.

Anyway, here's the great Ben Stein sounding off on the democrats' latest "outrage." You have to love the double standards.

Hypocrisy, democrat Style

P.S. This by no means indicates that I love all Republicans... especially not today! It does show, though, that there is still a pretty clear choice to be made.

Rationality Is So Rare

-
We all feel the crazed heat (pardon the pun) coming off the moonbats when it comes to the global warming hysteria. It is their... thing. Without hurting my brain too much trying to psychoanalyze these creatures- I think I know the main reason for their intense addiction to this topic.

First, they need to feel good about themselves, since their deeds and their inner selves are usually so incredibly negative and dark. "Caring" about the environment is a sure-fire way to grab some much needed self-esteem. It shows that they are "children of the earth." It gives them a ticket into the "I care" club. At the end of the day, they can say to themselves, "well, I may hate myself and my country, but at least I care about the earth." Nice.

Second, they need to "rage against the machine." By assigning blame to global warming, they are able to feel like they are David fighting against Goliath (yes, I realize they would never, ever use a biblical reference, but it works for us here). They are battling the evil, Republicans who are trying to destroy the planet for oil and gold and whatever else. This is the one that energizes them. Due to careful and systematic media assistance, this global warming "plot" is a much more "mainstream" conspiracy than, say, the one being pushed by lunatics about the 9/11 thing.

Finally, and probably most important, it is a way for the left to grab for power. There is no way they could ever, ever, ever, ever, ever win an election if they said what they really stood for. No chance in hell. So, they have to make do with trying to scare us into voting for them. The sad truth of it is that lots and lots of good and caring people buy into their crap. That is the only reason any election is ever even close at all.

I realize that I'm preaching to the choir here... but I read a great article today and it got me thinking about this subject. It is about Senator Inhofe and his "lone voice of rational dissent." Here it is for you to read- please do so:

What Causes Hornets To Riot?

-
I recently heard a local radio host talking about the intelligence report that Iraq is adding to the jihadi movement. He, like any other halfway intelligent person, was not surprised by that. The analogy he used was a hornet nest. If you are going to destroy it and you poke it- it gets the hornets all riled up. That doesn't mean that you can't destroy it... it just means the hornets are all riled up. Simple logic.

I'll take it a bit further. If you have a nicely landscaped back yard and you enjoy spending time out there, the last thing you are going to tolerate is a hornet nest, right? Why is that? Because if you leave it alone, it will grow and grow and grow... and soon there will be more and more and more of the nests.

Well, the world is that backyard. For far too long, the West has let the nests grow and grow- even after they started stinging us... and our failure to support the exterminators is the real problem. Until and unless the West wakes the hell up, those wasps and hornets are going to keep on buzzing and stinging... and someday, we're all going to go under.

Anyway, enough insect metaphors from me. Here's Jonah Goldberg with a good column on the wasps... except he uses a "bully" analogy.

Hopeless Cause Watch

-
I admire her efforts... but, even a tried-and-true optimist like me knows they are doomed to failure.

[[ A survivor of Islamic Jihad in the 1970s is challenging Muslim Americans who reject radical teachings to "raise their voices" and to hold demonstrations in public venues across the country denouncing violent behavior.

She took the opportunity to call on moderate Muslims in the U.S. to take better advantage of the constitutional freedoms that are not available to like-minded moderates in the Middle East.

"This is the only country in the world where they (moderate Muslims) can march in the streets, where they can demonstrate and speak out without being intimidated by radicals. I can understand why they cannot do it in places like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Libya, Syria and Lebanon," Gabriel said. "But there is no excuse why Muslims in the U.S. cannot take to the streets and rally and send a message to the radicals in the Middle East."
]]

Yes, Ms. Gabriel, there certainly is an "excuse" why American muslims won't "take to the streets" against radicalism. Actually, there are two excuses: 1) They support it - and/or 2) They are justifiably afraid of the violence that would come to visit them if they dared open their mouths against jihad.

I really hope she continues her campaign, though... she sounds like a very intelligent woman who is trying to wake us all up.
